Repurposing content is a vital marketing strategy that saves you a lot of time. It’s when you recycle your best content into different bits for all your social media platforms.
It can be a blog that you turn into infographics for your Pinterest account, you can snag a quote or a phrase from it and turn it into a tweet or you can make it compact size perfect for your Instagram and Facebook feeds!
By repurposing your content, not only that you save time from thinking of what else to post, but it also helps you reach more audience and serves as an excellent strategy to make yourself an authority in your business.
Should you not be aware, each social media platform has a unique set of audience. Your followers on Instagram might not be following you on Twitter and vice versa.
So just imagine how much reach you can have when you can post regularly on ALL your social media accounts?
One of the best ways to repurpose is from your Instagram videos!
Most of the time, you drop too many gems when you do videos, right? May it be a live video on your stories or pre-recorded videos on IGTV. You share quotable lessons that you can totally repost as a blog, a tweet, an infographic or a relevant and useful caption.
Now you may think, sounds like a lot of work though. That’s why I’m here to give you a step-by-step process on how to repurpose your content in a breeze.
Step 1: Upload video onto IGTV and Youtube (if you are looking to expand on YT)
Knowing that there has been a huge emphasis on IGTV last July with updates and increased usage, it only shows that uploading to IGTV regularly is a powerful strategy
To optimise your IGTV videos, make sure to add subtitles so that even those with hearing challenges and those who turned off their audio or can’t seem to turn on the sound, can still understand you. Subtitles help you with the engagement, so don’t ever miss this!
You can also upload the same video on Youtube, knowing that this platform is the 2nd largest search engine and caters to a wider market across the globe.
Step 2: Grab audio to upload onto Podcast
And now you are a Podcaster! How amazing is that?
There are several tools that you can use to grab audio from your videos such as Windows Movie Maker, VLC, Audacity and others.
Step 3: Transcribe the recording for your blog post
Now it’s time to turn your videos onto blogs!
You can manually transcribe your videos and format it for your blog post or you may choose to outsource and make use of transcription services such as rev.com
Once transcribed, you can then comb through the transcription and make a few tweaks to make it an epic blog post!
What’s good about repurposing your video to a blog is that it’s a good SEO strategy for you. You can tap more audience outside of any social media platform.
You can even choose to upload your blog on to medium.com! It’s a social platform where you can publish your best content. Medium has 60 million monthly users, which means another way for you to increase your reach outside Instagram!
Step 4: Cut video up into bit-size videos for FB, LinkedIn and Instagram
Always fun to turn your long-form video to bite-size, easy to digest videos for other social platforms. Shorter videos also grab viewers attention and RETENTION. So, go cut your videos 1-min to 3-min clips and don’t forget to add subtitles!
Step 5: Create audiogram graphics
Add variety on your Instagram Feed or IG Stories by repurposing your video to audiogram graphics. An audio with a stunning graphic usually gets the eyeballs! You can use Wavve to make use of their pre-designed templates hassle-free.
Step 6: Grab unique quotes or strong opinion pieces you want to highlight
Nothing beats a shareable content! And in case you don’t know, quotes and phrases with strong opinions usually get the shares!
So go ahead and grab shareable pieces from your video and post it on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.
PRO TIP: Use the app on Tuigram to share Tweets on the go on Instagram or Canva
Step 7: Turn your blog post into a newsletter
Step outside of all your social media platforms and your website and repurpose your blog post into a more personal way – newsletter!
And now you are well on the way to building an email list!
One free tool to send out newsletters is Mailchimp where you can send up to 2000 people without spending a dime.
Creating content shouldn’t be exhausting! It should be fun and enjoyable and most of all, time-saving!
When you repurpose your content, you are able to maximise your time, increase your content exposure and you consistently build your authority.
You don’t need to keep thinking of new content to post all the time!
Just follow the 7-step process and you’ll end up having a podcast episode, blog post, social media posts and a newsletter all from just one piece of content!
